Austin & Concetta enjoyed a destination French farm style meets Brooklyn inspired wedding day at Maison May in Fort Greene Brooklyn. Now living in Washington D.C., Austin and Concetta knew they wanted to get married in the Fort Greene neighborhood when it stole their hearts years ago while they resided in Brooklyn. They met and shared their first look in Fort Greene Park, where they had spent countless hours and weekends of their past. After enjoying the park, the entire bridal party and family headed to Maison May for their ceremony and to celebrate in the brownstones backyard and multi-level rooms. Austin and Concetta were married in an intimate backyard ceremony and enjoyed the rest of their evening with their closest friends and family.
The Proposal (How they met)
Concetta was renting a room down the street in the same house as my study abroad roommate during the summer of my senior year in college. When he introduced me I was completely blown away and continue to be blown away to this day. I did everything I could do get Concetta to date me and am not sure what finally convinced her. I proposed with my great grandmother's ring and a diamond from my stepfather's family. The ring was delayed in arriving so I had to scramble my plans a couple times. In the end, I proposed in a private spot in the park by the river in our neighborhood.
We first met in North Carolina. I had moved to Chapel Hill to take a job running the press office for the American Dance Festival and had a room in a house of guys for the summer. One of my roommates, Patrick, took me out to a party one night where I first met Austin who lived just two doors down. That summer Austin hosted BBQ's with his roommates, in part, as a ploy to get me to come over. I was the girl next door for the summer and finally after skirting around each other for the summer and fall, we got together in January 2018 and we've been together just over 10 years since. As for the proposal, I moved to D.C. in August and in November he popped the question down by the docks and river in our neighborhood. And I said yes!
