Kiara & Aren's The Tides Estates Winter Wedding Photography: North Haledon, NJ

Aren and Kiara enjoyed a sophisticated, intimate, and romantic winter wedding day at The Tides Estate in North Haledon, New Jersey. Both enjoy the magic of winter and wanted to capture the essence of the season through the natural colors of winter rather than the traditional colors of the holidays. After getting ready at The George in Montclair, Kiara rode to the church with her parents in a Rolls Royce, while Aren waited in anticipation at the end of the aisle. The two shared a soulful ceremony and celebrated their new union all the way down the aisle and out the church. After the ceremony, all guests headed over to The Tides Estate to celebrate the night away.

The Proposal

His Version:

The Proposal was difficult for me because I wanted to make it something memorable and over complex, but where would I find time to train multiple corgis to perform a flash mob engagement? Instead I decided to plan a day with several events that would incorporate multiple aspects of your relationship. First, we went to a play in NYC called Anastasia which happened to be one of her top 3 animated movies. Second, we got to dress up for the play and she got to wear a beautiful dress along side me in my suit. Third, I actually proposed at the site where we had our next morning conversation and first decided to get married...we also got free frozen yogurt. Last, we had a small engagement party where friends and family joined us hours after I proposed to congratulate us and take a ton of pictures!

Her Version:

The day Aren proposed to me was the day we were celebrating 3 years together. He had gone out of his way to place a dress on hold for me to wear on our date to see Anastasia on Broadway (a childhood favorite movie of mine). Afterwards we rode back into town and he took me to get frozen yogurt at the same spot we decided to date and spend our lives together just over 3 years prior. When we entered there were balloons and a photographer and he asked me to marry him. I said yes of course and in a daze we ate frozen yogurt together, had a mini photo shoot downtown and then went to Essex Junction in Bloomfield where all of our friends and family had gathered to celebrate with us. It was a magical day.

Wedding Planning Tip:

Be warned that online timelines are great for guidance, but if you want the cream of the crop in terms of choices, you'll need to start earlier than the timeline suggests. Back those bad boys up AT LEAST three months earlier. - If you're paying for your wedding, open up a bank account under both of your names. It's so much easier to contribute money for savings, track spending and deposit checks. - When determining budget allocation for your vendors, consider what you and your spouse value most and work from there. - A large majority of your day will be spent with your vendors; factor in their personalities alongside their skillset and prices.

Chris & Alexa's Fall Jersey City City Hall Wedding Photography: Jersey City, NJ

Chris & Alexa celebrated their modern and intimate wedding day in their neighborhood of Jersey City and tied the knot at the Jersey City City Hall. Their wedding day was a simple and elegant affair against the urban Jersey City backdrop and began next door to their apartment at the Marriott Residence Inn, where everyone in their party helped them prepare for City Hall. After sharing their vows to one another through exchanged cards in the morning, they enjoyed a private first look before walking over to City Hall. They tied the knot with Mayor Fulop as their officiant and celebrated their union under rose petals as they exited City Hall. After a quick visit to their feline family members, we headed over to the waterfront for a few photos with the New York City Skyline before they enjoyed a dinner reception with friend and family in New York City.

The Proposal

His Version:

I always knew Alexa wanted to visit Paris, so this past summer we took a vacation to Europe, and it was there I proposed to her under the Eiffel Tower. The rest of our vacation spent as an engaged couple was magical, and as we navigated Europe together I realized how amazing it was that I could continue to fall in love with her more each day.

Her Version:

Eight years later, (...), he proposed on my birthday trip to Paris and it was a complete surprise! It was very simple and sweet, and I enjoyed seeing how nervous he was, especially because he never gets nervous!

Wedding Planning Tip:

Spend money and time on the things that you really want to do. Forget about the rest.

Audra & Stuart's The Lodge At Stirling Ridge Wedding Photography: Warren, NJ

Audra and Stuart enjoyed a rustic yet elegant November wedding with lots of sunshine and a gorgeous sunset at The Lodge at Stirling Ridge in Warren, New Jersey. The couple exchanged gifts in the morning, with Stuart receiving a set of custom cufflinks and Audra receiving a beautiful necklace. Their first look was full of excitement, as they had both been looking forward to that moment during the planning phases of the wedding. I photographed Audra’s cousin’s wedding earlier this year (Jessica & Ron) and was delighted to see all of the familiar faces and family gathering to celebrate another joyous event. Everyone enjoyed a beautiful indoor Jewish ceremony before dancing the night away at the reception, complete with an outdoor fire pit that made this fall wedding a memorable celebration.

The Proposal (Or How they met)

His Version:

I wanted the proposal to be as memorable as possible, and with how important our families are to both of us, the best was to do this was involve everyone. I worked with Audra's aunt and uncle to have the ring custom made at their jewelry store. While I proposed in one of our favorite parts of the city, her cousin perfectly captured the moment from afar. While that was happening, Audra's family gathered at a restaurant in Midtown where we met them for a surprise celebration. The following day, we flew to Hawaii and met my family to continue the celebration. It was a whirlwind but I wouldn't change a thing.

Her Version:

It turns out our paths had crossed for years, with both of us working in the sports industry our entire careers. But it wasn't until work brought us to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic Games that we finally met. We wowed each other with our sports trivia skills, shared a meal at a Brazilian Italian restaurant (though Stuart forgot he promised to share his dish with me and ate it all himself), and watched the Closing Ceremony in the rain. The rest is history. It was a covert operation, orchestrated by Stuart from start to finish, to get me to the perfect park bench in our favorite part of Battery Park. I admit I was a bit of a pain... I could tell something was going on but didn't realize it was going to be this! It took awhile for him to be able to get me moving. After he proposed, there were a lot of happy tears followed by a lot of celebrating -- from a surprise lunch at Ben's Deli with my family to a nine day trip to The Big Island of Hawaii with the Martins.

Wedding Planning Tip:

Style Me Pretty and The Knot for inspiration, of course. Honestly, for me the biggest help was the fact that family had gotten married a few months before and were kind enough to share lots of tips and their vendors!
