Summer Brooklyn Bridge Engagement Session: Dumbo, NY

You can never go wrong with somewhere as epic as the Brooklyn Bridge for your engagement session. Michael and Michelle met me early Sunday morning for a sunrise Brooklyn Bridge/DUMBO engagement session. It was hot (like 90s) and a little crowded already, but we had a ton of fun and they enjoyed discovering the area during their session. We even found some new locations for shooting :) I’m looking forward to an amazing wedding day at Hudson House next year!

The Proposal

From Michael:

I fell in love immediately and proceeded to convince Michelle to go on 5 dates in our first 15 days of meeting. We kept up that pace for almost three years. By Oct 2018 I knew I wanted to marry her and began the planning process. By Christmas i had purchased the ring. MLK weekend 2019 I took her on a surprise trip to Paris. I researched streets with great views of the Eiffel Tower that were off the beaten path. Told her we were getting brunch that morning, strolled to that street, had a stranger that seemed to have a keen eye take our picture, and got down on one knee.

From Michelle:

Mike had asked if I would be able to take an extra day off to take a trip during the MLK holiday weekend, and I agreed, without having a lot of time to think about and plan for the trip. When I asked where we were going, he told me it was a surprise. I love a good mystery, so I started to make some guesses in the week leading up to the trip. I knew I needed to pack for New York- style winter weather, and that it was a city with a good food scene. While Mike wouldn't outright tell me where we were headed, he would answer my questions. Was there a football team in the city? Yes, but football can have many definitions (including the European definition - soccer!) The next thing I knew, my crazy work week was over, I quickly packed a bag for the long weekend and as we got in the cab, I called my mom to tell her I was on the way to the airport. "Show me the ring when you get it!" she said, without actually knowing it would be coming. When we got to Newark, I looked at the departures board and saw our flight time - we were headed to Paris! On Saturday morning, we got dressed up for what I thought would be a fancy brunch, took the metro to the center of the city, and strolled to a picturesque side street with a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. Mike asked a stranger to take our photo, and when he walked back to pose with me, he got down on one knee! I was so shocked but so incredibly thrilled! We got the entire moment in pictures, which was so special. After celebrating with a glass of champagne, Mike had one more surprise - he booked a professional photographer for a mini engagement photo shoot!

Wedding Day Anticipations:

We're most looking forward to being surrounded by our favorite people and celebrating the official start to our lives together.

The Perfect Weekend Together:

Our perfect weekend would include traveling somewhere new - whether it's a road trip to a nearby town or a plane ride away to a new city. We'd spend the day hiking or walking around, taking in the sights, and spend the night grabbing a drink and eating something tasty.
