Tappan Hill Mansion, Tarrytown, Elegant Summer, Wedding Photography: Tarrytown, NY
Meghan & Nicolo were married by their close friend Cody overlooking the Hudson River at Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown, New York. Their elegant and simplistic wedding featured dusty blue colors with gold accents and many special touches that had meaning for the couple. Meghan wore a stunning lace dress with her grandmothers garter and a simple veil she hopes she can one day pass down to her sisters or future children. The ceremony took place right before sunset with streaming golden light with all guests wearing custom wedding sunglasses. It was an incredible day and celebration.
I chose to propose in Central Park as it was a key part of New York City experience. I picked Tavern on the Green as the location. The day I picked to propose was the night of our 7 year anniversary as a couple. We always went out to dinner somewhere nice to celebrate so I simply told Meghan we would be eating dinner at Tavern on the Green. The night of the proposal I ran into a variety of unexpected challenges. When we arrived at the restaurant, I wanted to get the proposal done right away. There was a side door out to the deck where I planned to propose. Right when I was about to lead her outside and make the proposal, two men carrying patio furniture were struggling to get through the door. I tried to play it cool, but I think she started to realize something was up. Once they cleared the door. I grabbed her by the hand and led her outside. Of course it was raining, but at that moment it didn’t matter. I got down on one knee and she said yes. I had hired a photographer so we had pictures to forever capture the moment.
Our engagement occurred on our 7th anniversary. Nicolo and I had discussed getting married but I always thought I would have some idea when it was actually happening (boy was I wrong). This year Nicolo picked Tavern on the Green in Central Park and made a reservation for 5:30. By 4pm I had laundry in the dryer, had to shower and complete the dessert. I realized I might not have planned my day out well (which I realize now must have been stressful for him) but he was sweet and offered to get my clothes from the dryer and help me finish the dessert. He is always so kind but this level of assistance was out of the ordinary and I remember thinking - man, I should procrastinate more often! We arrived at Tavern on the Green and the only give away was when he went up to the hostess and they exchanged no words but they seemed to recognize each other. He pulled me outside in the rain, underneath the string lights and asked me to marry him! He had a photographer capture it all and it was perfect! Most importantly he had asked my dad for permission the week before (I had no idea!) and had planned a brunch at my parent's house the next day to celebrate with my parents, sisters and grandma. It was like he read my mind - the moment exceeded my expectations!
Wedding Planning Tip:
There is room for negotiation with your vendors! We didn't plan anything for our wedding until a month or so after our engagement. We wanted to enjoy some time before diving into the planning and that was a great choice! Once you start planning, book your must have vendors first - they book quickly!
